SEHA appointed ICME masterplanning and financial feasibility of the new SSMC hospital in Abu Dhabi. SEHA and Mayo Clinic are planning to expand the SSMC into a regional Destination Medical Center (DMC), similar to Mayo Clinic, Rochester/ Florida in the USA. To meet this vision, SSMC plans to expand its campus footprint, to expand existing service lines, and to accommodate additional service lines, based on a strategic expansion program. ICME and SOM in a joint approach have been awarded to develop the Concept Master Plan, including design parameters, for the Expansion based on the outcomes of the Unified Vision Document and the detailed planning exercise conducted in a previous stage, both conducted by ICME. The Study is developed based on international best-practice design guidelines and the application of functional operating facility design parameters. Furthermore, it is part of the scope to evaluate the structural expansion possibility of several buildings at SSMC. Across the project execution stages, ICME and SOM have liaised closely with the SSMC and SEHA team with a dedicated focus on a suitable and efficient healthcare facility design.
